OUR STORY

A Legacy Restored. A Future Ignited.

Founded in 1988 to save the Majestic Theatre from demolition, The Majestic Empire Foundation (MEF) has grown into a driving force for historic preservation, arts access, and educational equity across South Texas. What began as a bold act of restoration has become a dynamic movement.

Today, MEF proudly serves as the nonprofit steward of the Majestic and Empire Theatres while leading transformative arts education and workforce development programs that uplift thousands of students each year.

From saving historic stages to awarding life-changing scholarships, the Majestic Empire Foundation is where heritage meets opportunity.

OUR MISSION

The Majestic Empire Foundation advances the performing arts by expanding access to education, opportunity, and cultural experiences and by preserving and activating historic theatres as vibrant centers of performance and community connection.

Our Vision

A thriving South Texas where historic theatres serve as cultural anchors, inspiring creativity, expanding opportunity, and sustaining a vibrant performing arts ecosystem for generations to come.
