    The Majestic Empire Foundation in San Antonio, Texas is seeking Summer Apprentices for the 2026 Educational Season. This six-week immersive program offers a rare opportunity to gain practical experience inside a working non-profit theatre organization while contributing to high-quality arts education for youth.

    Apprentices will work alongside MEF’s Director of Advanced Education on the production of a fully staged high school show at the Empire Theatre and the development and execution of three week-long camps in Musical Theatre Performance and Technical Production. Each apprentice will take on a meaningful role on the production team and will support operations across artistic, educational, and administrative areas including stage/technical work, directing support, teaching/mentoring, management, marketing, and development.

    This program is designed for aspiring directors, teaching artists, stage managers, designers, and theatre professionals who want hands-on experience, mentorship, and real responsibility in a fast-paced, creative environment.

    IDEAL CANDIDATES

    We are seeking early-career professionals with a strong interest in theatre, education, and/or non-profit arts administration. The strongest candidates will be college students or recent graduates with experience in theatre production and a willingness to collaborate, problem-solve, communicate clearly, mentor younger students, and work long and rewarding hours during production season.

    DATES

    June 29 – August 9, 2026
    Occasional pre-production meetings will be scheduled prior to program start.

    LOCATION

    Rehearsals, camps, and performances take place at venues throughout downtown San Antonio, including:
    The Josephine Theatre
    The Empire Theatre
    The Espee

    COMPENSATION

    $5,000 total stipend for the full summer
    • Housing available for apprentices needing onsite accommodations.

    Ideal candidates are collaborative, energetic, student-centered artists who thrive in creative environments and believe in the transformative power of arts education. Our programs serve students of varying ages and experience levels, with a particular focus on accessibility, imagination, and growth.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Teach classes, workshops, or camp sessions in your discipline (Acting, Voice, Dance, or Design/Tech)
    • Build lesson plans that support skill development, creativity, and confidence
    • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
    • Provide individualized feedback and artistic guidance
    • Collaborate with program leadership and fellow instructors
    • Support rehearsals, showcases, and student presentations as needed

    Seasonal Contract Position in San Antonio & Lower Rio Grande Valley

    The Majestic Empire Foundation is seeking High School Musical Adjudicators to evaluate student performers participating in the Joci Awards — the largest performing arts scholarship program for high schoolers in the United States. Adjudicators play a key role in supporting emerging talent, offering constructive feedback, and upholding artistic quality and integrity throughout the program.

    Opportunities are available in two regions:

    San Antonio & Surrounding Areas
    Lower Rio Grande Valley

    This role is ideal for theatre professionals, directors, choreographers, vocal coaches, arts educators, and industry practitioners with experience working with youth and a passion for nurturing young performers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Attend assigned high school musical theatre productions within your designated region
    • Score performances using the Joci Awards adjudication rubric and online evaluation system
    • Provide clear, encouraging, and actionable written feedback to student performers
    • Maintain fairness, consistency, confidentiality, and professionalism in all evaluations
    • Participate in adjudicator training/orientation to align with scoring standards
    • Communicate with MEF education staff regarding scheduling, reporting, and questions
    • Represent The Majestic Empire Foundation with integrity and positive engagement in the community

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Background in musical theatre performance, directing, choreography, music direction, or theatre education
    • Experience evaluating student or professional performances preferred
    • Strong understanding of vocal technique, acting, storytelling, and/or dance & movement in musical theatre
    • Excellent writing and feedback communication skills
    • Reliable transportation to schools and performance venues
    • Commitment to equity in scoring and supporting student growth
    • Must reside in or be able to regularly adjudicate in San Antonio or Lower Rio Grande Valley

    SCHEDULE & REQUIREMENTS

    • Evening and weekend availability required
    • Shows are assigned based on regional location and individual availability
    • Digital evaluation forms must be submitted within required deadlines

    COMPENSATION

    The Majestic Empire Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated individual to support our Development and Events team. This role assists with donor relations, fundraising initiatives, special events, membership support, and administrative tasks that help sustain the Foundation’s mission to provide accessible arts education, preserve historic theatres, and invest in young artists across South Texas.

    This position is ideal for someone who enjoys event planning, hospitality, communication, and working behind the scenes to bring meaningful community experiences to life.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Development Support:

    • Assist with donor stewardship, communications, thank-you letters, and data entry

    • Help maintain donor CRM records and tracking tools

    • Support grant preparation by gathering information, documents, and program details

    • Assist with campaign mailings, fundraising drives, and membership benefits

    Event Support:

    • Provide hands-on support for Foundation events, fundraisers, performances, and donor engagement activities

    • Assist with event logistics including check-in, guest support, décor setup, and hospitality

    • Coordinate materials, signage, volunteer communication, and event supplies

    • Help manage event communications and follow-up

    General:

    • Support administrative tasks and project coordination as needed

    • Uphold a positive, professional presence while representing the Foundation

    • Collaborate with the Development & Communications team and report to event leadership

    The Majestic Empire Foundation is seeking a creative and organized individual to provide support in communications, marketing, and digital content for our education programs, events, and community initiatives. This role will help develop and manage outward-facing messaging, assist with online content creation, support social media strategy, contribute to email and print communication, and ensure brand consistency across platforms.

    This position is ideal for an emerging marketing professional, social media manager, writer, designer, or creative communicator passionate about the arts and storytelling.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Marketing & Content:

    • Support creation and scheduling of social media content, including graphics, captions, and video clips

    • Assist with email newsletters, website updates, and public-facing announcements

    • Help capture photos and video at events, workshops, and programs (as available)

    • Draft and format promotional materials, flyers, press quotes, and marketing copy

    • Ensure brand tone, messaging, and visual identity are consistent

    Communications:

    • Assist with press releases, donor communications, and public relations assets

    • Maintain event listings, community calendars, and website updates

    • Support storytelling efforts by gathering student testimonials, photos, and impact highlights
